The
responsible for the creation of these excellent cigars is the Oettinger
Davidoff Group, a well-known Swiss company of luxury products, whose main
activity is tobacco. In 2003 they launched the Zino Platinun brand worldwide,
as a tribute to Zino Davidoff, one of the best-known names in the history of
cigars.
Zino
Davidoff, a Jew of Ukrainian origin born in 1906, arrived with his parents in
Geneva, Switzerland, in 1911, who opened their own tobacco shop a year later.
In 1924, he traveled for 6 years through various Latin American countries, two
of which he spent working on a tobacco plantation in Cuba. When he returned to
Switzerland in 1930, he took over the family business, turning it into a very
lucrative business. In 1970, the Oettinger Group, also Swiss, whose origin
dates back to 1875, bought the Zino store and began to create Davidoff as an
international brand, establishing itself in countries such as the Netherlands,
France and the United States.
Zino
Platinun was developed in association with Peter Arnell, the famous designer
and publicity campaign creator, and Steve Stoute, a renowned author and
marketing entrepreneur, both from the United States. The brand is comprised of the
Crown and Scepter series, and the alliance established for its creation itself
reveals a novel approach to design, marketing and advertising. The inspiration
for the brand was Zino Davidoff's adventurous spirit and his desire to enjoy
life to the fullest, resulting in an exceptionally refined blend from the
highest quality tobaccos, made from tobacco leaves aged for approximately four
years.
Zino is
positioned in a very particular market segment for premium cigars: that of
consumers seeking to discover new taste sensations. Although they are difficult
to find, according to many connoisseurs, they are among the best cigars, full
of rich flavor and bold aromas.
In May
2021, Oettinger Davidoff relaunched the line in three formats: Short Torpedo (4
x 52), Robusto (5 x 54) and Toro (6 x 50). Regardless of size, all cigars share
the same blend consisting of filler cigars from Honduras, Nicaragua, and the
Dominican Republic, all unified with a Nicaraguan binder and finished with an
Ecuadorian wrapper.
In our
store is available the Zino Platinum Art Miami Limited Edition Exclusive Series
Grand Robusto, which shows how art can be the perfect companion to the unique
blend of tobaccos used in these cigars, aged for at least five years. It was
made in collaboration with the urban artists collective UR ??of New York as a
tribute to the city of Miami and its legacy to the world of cigars. This gem of
a cigar is made with a blend of Dominican and Peruvian long fill, with a Connecticut
binder and an Ecuador-Connecticut wrapper, to produce a medium to full bodied
smoke.
This
special edition of Zino Art Miami is an exclusive from Mike's Cigars, Miami's
flagship store, which is also honored with this exclusive series.
