Backwoods Cigars

Backwoods Cigars has a rich history that spans more than 50 years. Originally named Backwoods Smokes, the company began as a cigarette manufacturer. Backwoods created its first line of smokes in its Ft. Lauderdale plant in 1973, and they were an immediate success. However, the government had recently banned tobacco companies from advertising on television or radio, which left Backwoods struggling to expand its local popularity.

To combat the advertising ban, the company shifted to producing cigars, taking advantage of a loophole in the advertising ban. They took the flavor that had become so popular, wrapped in premium, all-natural Connecticut broadleaf tobacco, and introduced it nationally in 1981.

Backwoods Cigars Flavors

In the early 80s, the Backwoods cigar brand was marketed to cater to the rugged, outdoorsy man who spends his weekend camping and fishing with his buddies. Since then, Backwoods Cigars has evolved and expanded its cigar line to attract a more diverse range of cigar enthusiasts. 

In addition to their "original" cigar flavor, Backwoods Cigars has a range of honey-infused flavors with fruity or ale undertones. They have a craft range of cigars that incorporates the flavor of some of the more popular "backwoods" alcoholic beverages.
